The Grand Investiture Of The 5th National Chairperson Of the Society Of Women In Taxation (SWIT), Mrs Bosede Florence Ikhanoba FCTI.
The investiture of the 5th Nationa Chairperson of the Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT), Mrs Bosede Florence Ikhanoba FCTI, and the inauguration of the Executive Committee held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Palme D’or Gardens/Hall, Area 1, Garki, FCT- Abuja was a grand success, filled with joy and excitement.
Mrs. Bosede Florence Ikhanoba FCTI, mentioned in her acceptance speech that SWIT will carry out a lot of enlightenment on tax matters during her tenure. She stated that during her tenure, SWIT would help to advocate for women in business. She remarked that we want everybody to know why they should pay their tax. Tax is an obligation. She reiterated that “every one of us must understand that you are obligated to pay part of your income to the government. It is what you pay that t h e g o v e r n m e n t u s e s t o f i x infrastructure. So, once you pay your tax, you can hold the government accountable.”
The National President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and the Chief host of the event, Mr Samuel Agbeluyi FCTI swore in Mrs Ikhanoba. In his remark, Mr Samuel Agbeluyi said he expected the society’s and CITN’s progress during Mrs Ikhanoba’s tenure.
The Executive Secretary, the Joint Tax Board (JTB), Hajiya Nana-Aisha Obomeghie, said the board would collaborate with SWIT to help enlighten women in business on their obligation in terms of tax filing and the benefits they would get when they were tax-compliant.
The Executive Committee inaugurated by Mrs Bosede Ikhanoba were Dr Caroline Ndubuisi (Vice Chairperson), Dr Odunayo Ani (Deputy Vice Chairperson), Mrs Oluwaseun Olajube (General Secretary), Dena Rose Ajayi (Treasurer), Mrs Ruth Arokoyo (Financial Secretary), Mrs Olaitan Babatunde (Publicity & Publication Secretary), Dr Virginia N Udeh (Social & Welfare Secretary) Mrs Janet E Olaoye (Membership Secretary) Mrs Angelina Chinonso Ajoku (Assistant General Secretary, Mrs Buseri Tonye (Assistant Membership Secretary, Dr Eunice Odum (Assistant Publicity Secretary), Esther Nyam (Assistant Social/Welfare Secretary) and Dr Ruth Abiola Adimula (Immediate Past Chairperson).
Some of the dignitaries present at the event included past president Dame Gladys Simplice FCTI, Hajia Queesly Soghesime, some of the CITN council members, Dr Mrs Titi Fowokan FCTI, Prof Godwin Oyedokun FCTI and CITN Registrar Mr. Lanre Olasunkanmi.
